Everything Eyes Seminar Held in Downtown Westfield by Local Plastic Surgeon
Thursday, June 7, 2012 • 2:56pm
WESTFIELD, NJ - It was indeed “Everything Eyes” on Wednesday night June 6 at Burnett Plastic Surgery in downtown Westfield.
The night began with a welcome by the doctor and an introduction of his team of professionals who would help educate all those in attendance about what makes eyes beautiful. Topics included surgery, surgery fillers, makeup, the use of injectables like Botox for the Botox brow lifts, skin-tightening procedures called Ultherapy, and others. Many questions where posed by the standing room only crowd and quickly answered by Dr. Burnett and his team.
Dr Burnett put emphasis on keeping up with the current technology. Stating “In the past we would sculpt and take too much fat out and now we leave enough fat in. So its what you leave behind that makes the eyelids look great.” He went on to explain some of the cutting edge technology in use today.
Upon completion of the seminar, the feeling of levity engulfed the room as someone shouted, “How much?” After a long chuckle by the crowd, the Doctor explained various fees associated with the topics covered. An overall feeling of relief was felt as it became evident that you don’t need to be a movie star to afford many of the procedures discussed.
Maryanne Hedrick from Burnett Plastic Surgery added “You can see that people are interested in basically trying to see how they can look younger by just doing work with their eyes. That’s what I thought was really interesting is that you don’t have to have surgery to look good. There are non-surgical things that you can do that really give the effect of an eye surgery. So it’s really terrific and it’s approachable for all different economic backgrounds.” But local resident Maureen Ambinder may have summed up the evening best by saying, “I learned a lot about how to take care of my skin. I learned a lot about the aging process on the skin. And non surgical ways that you can improve your appearance.”
Everyone enjoyed soft drinks and snacks as the questions kept flying through the evening. All in attendance left with a goodie-bag.
Dr. Burnett, is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and is one of two African American plastic surgeons in the state of New Jersey. He has been in town for 17 years and feels as though he has been welcomed by the community saying “The Westfield population is great. They’ve been great to me and I try to make sure that our product is good for them.
