WEST ORANGE, NJ -  The Ninth Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held at the Essex County Environmental Center, 621B Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland, on Saturday, April 26 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Admission is free and the event is family-friendly.

Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo encourages Essex County residents to enjoy some time at the Environmental Center, where they will be able to "participate in hands-on educational games and activities, canoe trips, bird walks, environmental information booths, enjoy live nature-themed music and shop in an eco-market."

“Earth Day gives us a special time to appreciate our world, reminds us of the importance of keeping our air and water clean, and provides a sampling of the depth of programming offered at the Environmental Center,” DiVincenzo said. “We invite the public to join us for a great day of crafts, learning, canoeing and fun. Working together we can help keep Essex County green.”

Highlights of the day will include presentations on the inner workings of bee hives by Essex County Beekeepers Society. Their award-winning honey and other honeybee products will be available for purchase. The New Jersey Woodturners will demonstrate how to create art from found pieces of wood and fallen tree branches. NJ Audubon will take center visitors on bird walks. Essex County Master Gardeners will discuss horticulture and composting, and the 4-H Club will hold its Annual Fair.
