EEF Music Fest on April 27

EEF

Thursday, April 24, 2014 • 1:20pm

Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens will be the featured performer at the EEF Music Fest on Sunday, April 27.  The family-friendly concert will take place outside from noon to 5 p.m. at the Evergreen Field by the Scotch Plains Fanwood High School.

DiNizio plays guitar and is the vocalist and principal songwriter for the platinum recording artists The Smithereens, who have appeared on stages all over the world and have performed on The Tonight Show, MTV Unplugged and Saturday Night Live.  DiNizio has also recorded four solo albums.

In addition, Music Fest will include performances by terrific student bands Inskagnito -- a ska band made up of some of the district’s top musicians – and Free Food. Other performers include an All Star Superband of SPF Music Teachers, Eric Harrison’s Crash Chorus, and several student musicians, bands and vocalists.  There may also be some surprise guests. All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward funding educational grants in the SPF school district.

This marks the second SPF-EEF Music Fest.  “Last year’s inaugural concert attracted music lovers of all ages,” said Jane Costello, event chair.  “We had some outstanding talent and a beautiful day. We hope even more of the community will come enjoy the music this year.”

Tickets to the second annual music fest are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, or $20 per family.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.spf-eef.org or by mailing a check payable to “EEF of SPF” to P.O. Box 621, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.  In addition, tickets may be purchased at the gate the day of the concert.

The SPF Education Enrichment Foundation is an all-volunteer organization which works to strengthen the student learning experience by providing grants for leadership programs, technology and innovative educational projects.  In the past two years, the SPF-EEF has provided more than $10,000 in grants to educators working throughout the district curriculum, funded an annual student leadership program and sent middle school students to take part in research in a professional science research lab.

Additional information, including the complete performance schedule, can be found at www.spf-eef.org and the SPF-EEF Facebook page.
