Education Foundation Presents Donation to Board of Education

MILLBURN, NJ -- Leaders of the Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills presented a check for more than $200,000 to the Board of Education at Tuesday's session.

The funds will benefit the seven Millburn public schools with 23 innovative and progressive grants and major technological gifts. The goal is to bolster the curriculum with programs and equipment that cannot be funded within state budget caps.

Among the projects this year are:

High School:

• Genocide awareness symposium

• Clicker technology in chemistry and physics

• Auditorium: sound system and screen

• Digital storytelling for senior English seminar

• Filmmaking is a collaborative art: mass media and communication

• Equipment for Studio 462

Middle School:

• 11 smart boards

• Laptops for special education replacement and support classes

• First In Math enrichment program

Elementary Schools:

• Smart response system (clickers used with smart boards)

• Bee-Bots primary hands-on programming

• Apps and ibooks for resource room

• Interactive response systems

• Therapy balls for student seating

The foundation has raised more than $1 million over the past 10 years to support the town’s public schools.
