EDISON, NJ – Jeff Xie made his debut on “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” Tuesday evening as one of 15 teen contestants vying for the $75,000 grand prize.

It was obvious that the category, “Katy Perry”, wasn’t Jeff’s strong suite, but once the clues were exhausted he started firing off answers when it came to the catagories of “Official Languages” and "Inventors"

Jeff knows his inventors, especially when the clue is about his hometown’s namesake. “Within 6 years of moving his lab to Menlo Park he had applied for around 400 new patents.” The answer, “Who is Edison?” of course.

Jeff wagered $3000 in the Daily Double in the Double Jeopardy round and answered the question correctly, “What is a gerund?”

However, when it came to Final Jeopardy category of World Landmarks he played it smart. His opponent Erin Christopher, who was in third place, answered incorrectly and Selena Groh answered correctly moving into first place with $20,000.

Jeff wagered $0 and misspelled the answer, “What is the Eiffel Tower?”

In the end, Jeff’s performance was stellar, winning $19,000, with extremely good chance of making it into the semifinals as a wildcard.

The “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” can be seen on ABC at 7 p.m.
