PATERSON, NJ - The Eastside varsity football team rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to deliver a 14-8 Thanksgiving Day victory over Kennedy on Thursday.

Eastside's comeback prevented Kennedy from securing its first .500 season since 2008. Eastside now holds a 43-39-7 advantage in the 89-year-old city rivalry.

Terrence Tate's second touchdown of the game, a 59-yard run in the fourth quarter, snapped an 8-8 tie and provided the Ghosts with the margin of victory. In the third quarter, Tate had scored on a 24-yard reception from quarterback Tahj Upshaw. Upshaw then followed that initial Eastside TD with a two-point conversion run to tie the game.

Kennedy had taken an 8-0 lead in the second quarter on Shaon Stevenson's 2-yard touchdown run, followed by a two-point conversion run by Stevenson.

Both Paterson high schools finished the season with 4-6 records.
