Eastside High Cheerleaders in MSG Spotlight

PATERSON, NJ – The Eastside High cheerleaders will be featured next week on MSG Varsity’s The Cheering Life, a 30-minute monthly show broadcast in the tri-state area.

The episode, this season’s finale, will be shown on Tues., Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. on Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14). It will be rebroadcast on Wed., Feb. 15 at 2:00 pm, Sat., Feb. 18 at 6:30 pm, and Sun., Feb. 19 at 9:00 pm.

The cable show is billing the episode as a look at “the trio of coaches at East Side HS—a mother, sister and daughter team—that teach their inner city athletes to strive to be their best, no matter the circumstance.’’

The members of the coaching family are Francine Smart (Asst. Coach/Mother), Travelle Pinkett (Head Coach/sister), and Amber Fischer ("Unofficial Asst. Coach”/Daughter of Francine).

The February 14 episode also highlights:

·         Union City HS hosts the show, telling how a former UCHS cheerleader helped rebuild the program into a competition squad.

·         A “day in the life” of Fairfield (Ct.) Ludlowe HS’ squad as it preps for and cheers at a Pep Rally, holds practice, then cheers on the boys’ basketball team.

·         Ten seniors on Hackensack HS’ Varsity squad reflect on their cheer careers as the end of their final season draws near.

The 30-minute program showcases each of the four squads performing select routines, and gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the activities, priorities and personalities that make each squad unique.
