Dreamcatcher Spoofs Classic Holiday TV Shows in A Very Special (Holiday) Special
Monday, November 25, 2013 • 1:17pm
SUMMIT, NJ - Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre Company is set to spoof the holiday specials of yesteryear in A Very Special (Holiday) Special, Dec. 6-7 at the Oakes Center. Showtime on both nights is 8 p.m.
Dreamcatcher is taking a break from their mainstage schedule to perform their affectionate send-up of traditional holiday entertainment. A Very Special (Holiday) Special takes a lighthearted look at those old-fashioned holiday variety shows, which starred the likes of Donny and Marie, Perry Como, and The Mandrell Sisters.
The Dreamcatcher Resident Acting Company will entertain with holiday songs, comic sketches and improv, and lots of good, old-fashioned fun. Each year’s show is original; past years’ performances included a Gagnam-style production number, take-offs on current reality shows, and a post-holiday scene at the returns counter of a department store. This year’s show will include musical spoofs, topical sketches, and unique silliness. Performing in the show are Dreamcatcher Company members Laura Ekstrand, Noreen Farley, Dave Maulbeck, Jessica O’Hara-Baker, Jason Szamreta, and special guest Lulu French.
Tickets priced at $20, and $15 for students 15-younger, can be purchased in advance at www.dreamcatcherrep.org, or by calling Brown Paper Tickets at 800 / 838-3006. The Oakes Center is located at 120 Morris Avenue. Parking is available in the lot behind the theatre on Ashwood Avenue, at the Summit Recreation Center on Morris Avenue, as well as on the street. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
