Downed Wires May Affect Morning Travel

FANWOOD, NJ - Although schools in the district opened on time Monday morning, the weather has caused several issues drivers should be aware of when they start their morning commute.
The combination of snow and freezing rain overnight Sunday into Monday has caused some partially downed wires, including one such case on Second Street in Fanwood between King Street and Coriell Avenue. The road is not closed, but the wire was not yet being attended to early Monday morning and there is a partial blockade in place.
Other similar hazards may be present throughout Fanwood and Scotch Plains, so drivers are advised to exercise extra caution, especially with schools opening at their usual times.
