Distressed Woman in Vacant Home Dies After Calling for Help

PATERSON, NJ - A city woman calling for help from the back of a vacant; partially burned out home on Fair Street died after being transported to the hospital early on Wednesday morning, March 26.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Sheila Ross, who at one time resided on Turner Street in the city.
Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez said, "At approximately 12:10 a.m., Patrol Lieutenant G. Vazquez responded to 267 Fair St., along with other patrol officers on a call of a woman calling for help. Once there a female was discovered in the rear of the mentioned address. ALS responded to the scene and transported the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The victim died from her injuries shortly after. "
