Deputy Police Chief Torre to Retire in January
Monday, December 16, 2013 • 2:27pm
On January 2, 2014, I will retire from the New Providence Police Department after over 30 years of service to our community. I do so after a lot of reflection, as the past 30 years have been so rewarding and fulfilling for me. I recall a saying, “Find a job you truly love and you will never work a day in your life.” That saying is appropriate to my career and my current state of mind in many ways. In the past 30 years, I have worked with many top rated police officers and administrators at New Providence Police Department and made so many special friends in New Providence that I will sorely miss.
It seems like the blink of an eye since I first began my career right out of college in 1983. It is hard to believe that 30 years have gone by, but I am proud of my service to the police department and our community. I will miss working for this great town and especially all of my colleagues at New Providence Police Department. During my tenure I have seen a lot of changes, but one constant has always been the professionalism of the New Providence Police Department and the officers who proudly serve our community.
I will look back on my career with so many fond and funny memories. New Providence has meant a great deal to me and I will always cherish those memories of my years spent here.
I wish you all a Happy Holiday Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Thank you for a great 30 years working for this wonderful town!
Scott F. Torre
Deputy Police Chief
