Dance students of Wharton Music Center performed in the end-of-year Contemporary Dance Theater Project on June 10 in WMC’s black box performance space. Under the direction of choreographer faculty members Rachel Falis and Robert Rivera, students danced hip hop, ballet, jazz, and modern in front of a full house.

Advanced Hip Hop dancers Jessica Kronberg, Katy Kronberg, Alex Stoloff, Dennis Taylor, and Leah Yacos danced “All Play, No Work” choreographed by Rob Rivera and Alex Stoloff to “Otis” by Jay Z and Kanye West and “Where Have You Been” by Rihanna. Student dancer and choreographer Samantha Scarp danced “The Winner Is” to music by Devotchka. The Project ended with a rousing jazz performance “Chicago” by Susan Chen, Kellian Frank, Hayley Lugg, Katelyn Miranda, Leah Yacos, Courtney Smalley, Isha Khosla, Liat Kastner, and Sophie Friedman choreographed by Rachel Falis to the Overture from “Chicago” by John Kander and “Hot Honey Rag” by Rob Fisher.

Dance students do not have to wait until September to continue dancing. Wharton Music Center offers its “So You Think You Can Dance” Actors Theater Project from July 23 through August 3 as part of its summer program. This exciting intensive that combines acting and dance will conclude with performances on August 2 and 3. To learn more about this FOCUS camp, contact WMC at 908 790-0700.
