NEWTON, NJ – “We’re still going strong,” said co-founder of D&H Alternative Risk Solutions, Susan Hammer to a packed crowd of guests at their 15-year anniversary celebration in Newton today.

Local and state dignitaries, as well as area businesses and employees from the firm gathered in Living Waters Fellowship for the event, and, guests took tours of the group’s office upstairs on 93 Spring Street, during the afternoon.

Co-founder and president of D&H Alternative Risk Solutions, Wayne Dietz, was visibly moved at the event, as he spoke of his wife and daughters, partner, staff, and customers.

“It’s a blend of friends, customers, and public officials,” said Dietz. “In our business, it’s a mixture.”

D&H Alternative Risk Solutions was founded in 1996, and is a licensed insurance consulting company, dealing with joint insurance funds, self-insured accounts, private companies, and more for large and small corporations and businesses, school districts, and state, city, and local governments.

Dignitaries in attendance at the event included: Commissioner of the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development Harold J. Wirths, Senator Steven Oroho, Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose, Assemblyman Gary Chiusano, Borough of Stanhope Administrator Brian McNeilly, Andover Township Deputy Mayor and Freeholder Candidate Gail Phoebus, Town of Newton Deputy Mayor Sandra Diglio, Borough of Stanhope Councilman and Council President George Graham, and Hopatcong Borough Mayor Sylvia Petillo.

“Our staff is simply the best,” said Dietz. “They do things the old-fashioned way.”

“I want to thank our present customers,” Dietz added. “You’re the most important thing to us.”

Dietz introduced Wirths to the group.

“It’s not just business, I think everyone knows the great work that Sue and Wayne do throughout the state, it’s such an honor to be here,” Wirths said.

“The thing I really respect is what they give back to the county,” said Wirths, in terms of work the group does within the community. “It speaks volumes.”

“The way they (D&H Alternative Risk Solutions) treat their customers is second to none,” Wirths said.

Wirths appointed Dietz recently to the New Jersey Advisory Council on Workers’ Compensation, which is a group that is comprised of insurance carriers, New Jersey Self-insurers Association, the New Jersey Business and Industry Association, labor organizations, attorney organizations, and public members.

“I am honored that Commissioner Wirths has chosen me for this important commission, and I am proud to join a forward thinking group of leaders who work to ensure the Workers’ Compensation system is serving the needs of both the employer and the employee,” said Dietz when he learned of his appointment.

He added, “I have a great deal of insight thanks to my years of experience dealing with the Workers’ Compensation system. It’s a system that has seen tremendous progress under the leadership of Commissioner Wirths. I will bring the challenges that face employers, particularly the towns and schools I represent, to the table as we work to increase efficiency and fairness.”

Today, at the event, Dietz reflected on D&H Alternative Risk Solutions’ location in the Town of Newton.

“Twenty-five employees in 6,000 square feet in a great town, it’s as good as it gets,” Dietz concluded.
