FANWOOD, NJ – Crossroads Nutrition, owned by Certified Holistic Health Coach Joan Dickason, has joined the Fanwood Business and Professional Association in preparation for the move into new offices in Fanwood later in the spring of 2013.

“After many years working as an IT professional on Wall Street, I suffered the effects of long hours, unrelenting stress, eating on the run, and not enough sleep or exercise.  At a career crossroad in my life, I decided to follow my passions and chose the path to a balanced life and increased health.   I started Crossroads Nutrition to work with others like me who need to find their path and move step by step towards their wellness goals,” said Dickason.

Dickason received her training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and is a Certified Holistic Professional by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

“This is my first venture into being an entrepreneur,” said Dickason.  In preparation for the nuts and bolts side of her business, she attended the Entrepreneurship 101 class offered by Union Country Economic Development Corporation (UCEDC), and won the “Quick Pitch” competition in late November by making a short presentation of her business plan to a panel of judges for UCEDC and Capital One Bank.  They assessed the viability of her business idea, knowledge of her target market and ability to connect with her clients and she was invited back in February as one of the program’s “success stories” to present an overview of her business to UCEDC Board of Trustees.

Crossroads Nutrition offers private consultations, as well as workshops and group sessions on a variety of nutrition topics and wellness challenges.  “My signature system encourages clients to set and accomplish goals, explore new foods, understand and reduce cravings, increase energy, move more and feel better in their body.  The workshops are interactive and informative, and most importantly, they are fun and inspiring! The first workshop series will be Diabetes Free Zone training, a physician created 16 week nutrition and lifestyle system designed to address the special needs of type 2 diabetics and pre-diabetics.”
