PATERSON, NJ - Mayor Jeffrey Jones has picked Janet McDaniel, mother of Councilman Kenneth McDaniel, to fill the Municipal Utilities Authority seat that became vacant when Obed Rodriguez died in August

Janet McDaniel works for the Passaic County Board of Social Services as Chief of Administrative Services, a position she has held since 1987, according to her resume.

The City Council is scheduled to vote on McDaniel's apppointment at its meeting on September 11.

Once she joins the board, the MUA will still have one of its five seats open. That one became vacant with the resignation of Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter.

MUA commissioners are paid $500. [Editor's note: The original version of this story incorrectly said commissioners are not paid.]
