Congregation Beth Israel Prepares for Holiday of Sukkot

Tuesday, September 25, 2012 • 5:07pm

Volunteers from the Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains helped build the synagogue’s Sukkah (booth) on Sunday, September 23, in preparation for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.  In keeping with tradition, the volunteers erected the Sukkah on the synagogue’s outdoor patio to replicate the temporary huts that their ancestors dwelled in while wandering in the desert. Throughout the week-long holiday of Sukkot, congregants and Religious School students will be able to eat in Congregation Beth Israel’s Sukkah.
