Concert By Candlelight
Saturday, October 27, 2012 • 9:19pm
On Saturday, November 10th, at 7:00 pm, Hungarian harpsichordist, Dr. Sándor Szabó, will present an intimate concert by candlelight in the beautiful chapel at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ. The program will include works by the most eminent composers for harpsichord from the renaissance, baroque and classic eras, including the complete inventions and Italian Concerto by J. S. Bach. The marvelous acoustics of the stone-built chapel will enhance the subtle nuances of this virtuous and elegant instrument. Dr. Szabo will perform on a double manual French concert grand harpsichord, modeled after the historic instruments of Taskin from the 17th century, and made by Frank Hubbard, considered to be one of the finest harpsichord builders in the United States.
Dr. Sándor Szabó has a well-established reputation as “one of the leading organists in the state” and is “the busiest musician in New Jersey” (Classical New Jersey Society Journal). Dr. Szabó is actively engaged as conductor, harpsichordist, organist and pianist throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. He has performed in major concert halls and cathedrals throughout Europe and North America. Currently, Dr. Szabó is the Director of Music/Organist at the Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ, Music Director/Conductor of The Oratorio Society of New Jersey, and Music Director/Organist at The Church of Point O’ Woods on Fire Island, NY.
