SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Classes at Seton Hall University will resume Monday, although many in the area are without power, including those in parts of South Orange.

In addition, gas shortages and the lack of mass transportation may affect staff and commuter students.

In a Pirate Alert issued at 3:44 p.m., the university wrote, “We recognize that faculty, staff and students may still face challenges from the hurricane that prevent their attendance.”

Faculty who are not able to make it to campus to teach are being encouraged to email their students through the Web-based Blackboard system. Students are being instructed to check Blackboard for individual course information.

Various cafeteria services and the Dunkin’ Donuts have resumed operations, according to the university’s website. The library is set to reopen on Saturday with normal hours. The Rec Center will reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Administrators and staff have Election Day off as a designated university holiday, although classes are in session and essential personnel are working.
