CLARK, NJ – Clark Democrats recently selected Jerry Fogle to replace the late Richard Kazanowski on the November ballot for town council. Fogle will run to represent residents of the third ward.  He joins a Democratic slate that includes Milt Provel in the First Ward and Dario Valdivia in the Second Ward.  Kazanowski, the incumbent candidate and the only Democrat on the Clark Town Council, died suddenly in June.

“I feel that everyone should have a voice,” said Fogle, “People are afraid to speak up or don’t know who to talk to.  I want to be the guy they know they can talk to.  Rich (Kazanowski) was a guy that everyone knew they could go to.  I want to follow in those footsteps.”

Fogle intends to begin the process of meeting the residents in the third ward by walking door to door and introducing himself.  “I know one part of the third ward, where I live,” he said, “now I want to meet the rest of the people.”

Fogle, the married father of two daughters, is an active volunteer in town.  He serves as the recording secretary of the Valley Road School PTA and will take on the same role at the Charles H. Kumpf School in September.  He is a coach for Clark Travel Basketball, Clark Girls’ Softball and Clark Girls Travel Softball.

Professionally, Fogle has served as a police officer with the Union Police Department for 17 years.  He is the department’s supervising D.A.R.E. Police Officer and a School Resource Police Officer.  He has secured and administered a number of grants for the department and provided a variety of training services.

Nancy Sheridan, chairwoman of the Clark Democratic Committee, said that the vote to select Fogle was unanimous.  “We are very enthusiastic about having Jerry as a candidate in the 3rd Ward.  He is energetic, passionate and dedicated to Clark, as he has demonstrated through his work with the PTA and youth sports leagues. I know that with him as Councilman, the Third Ward will be in good hands,” she said.

Fogle considers local politics to be important for the community. “With different opinions you have debate and debate makes good government.  You may agree, you may not, but discussion leads to making good decisions for the town,” he said.  He thinks that Clark is a great place to live and added, “Making it better is the way to go.”
