City Settles Four Workers' Comp Cases

PATERSON, NJ - The City Council on Tuesday approved about $84,000 worth of settlements in four workers compensation cases.

They are:

*$38,359 to Police Officer David D'Arco. The resolution says he hurt both wrists while trying to apprehend a violent suspect on Nov. 10, 2005 and injured his right shoulder and lower back when he slipped on ice in the police headquarters parking lot on March 18, 2007.

*$26,652 to Police Officer Eric Fajardo. The resolution says he was hurt on March 16, 2006 when he was kicked in the face while arresting a suspect.

*$15,000 to Animal Control Officer John DeCando. The resolution says he sustained injuries to his nose on Sept. 18, 2010 when he was scratched by a sick puppy.

*$5,000 to Police Sgt. Khalil Munem. The resolution says he was hurt on Oct. 28, 2011 when a bullet ricocheted at a shooting range and grazed his head.
