City Man Pleads Not Guilty in State Trooper Case

PATERSON, NJ - A 26-year-old city man accused of trying to run over a state police detective during a drug bust in the 1st Ward last week pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, according to a story on northjersey.com.

The story said that the judge in the case kept the bail for the accused, Ariel Acosta, at $500,000.

Acosta was shot in teh chest during the incident, but was treated and relleased from a hospital within 24 hours of the shooting.

The trooper was hospitalized for injuries he suffered when he was hit by the vehicle. Acosta had bee charged with attempted murder. He and two others also face drug and weapons charges.
