PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Public School District will hold its annual High School Choice Fair on Tuesday Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Educational Complex.
The High School Choice Fair will give eighth-grade students the opportunity to learn about Paterson's 12 high school programs and aims to assist students in choosing the three schools that will best meet their needs.
According to State District Superintendent Donnie W. Evans:
Here is how the selection process works: Our high school choice program enables you to apply to three schools, ranking them in the order of first, second and third choice. Students can choose any Paterson Public High School Program regardless of where they live in Paterson. After our application submission deadline has been
reached (Dec. 18), your top three selections will be processed through a lottery-selection process in January, which will result in your child’s acceptance to one of your three choices. Many students will be accepted into their first or second choice school. However, this is not a guarantee. It is important for parents and guardians to take time out to research the twelve options in order to select the three best choices for your child. The high schools will also hold their own “Open House” events in November so you can also see the school firsthand.
Please note that the applications for our high school selection process will be available immediately
following our School Choice Fair and it will further outline the details of our high school choice selection
