CHATHAM, NJ – A vote for more transparency in government will take place when the Chatham Township Committee meets on Thursday, March 13.

The Committee announced Wednesday that in the interest of encouraging transparency at all levels of government it will vote on a resolution which will require that hyperlinks to draft ordinances and resolutions under consideration by the Committee appear on the Township website (chathamtownship-nj.gov/tc) in advance of its bi-weekly meetings.

“In an effort to increase transparency between the Committee and Township residents we have decided to provide hyperlinks to the related draft ordinances and resolutions that are under consideration on the Township website in advance of our meetings,” Mayor Kevin Sullivan said. “While this practice is not typical of many municipalities, we believe this is good governance at its best and will help our residents understand the important work of the Committee and how their tax dollars are being spent.”

The Committee currently posts its draft agendas and prior meeting minutes online, which can be found at chathamtownship-nj.gov/tc. Committee meeting agenda items, ordinances and resolutions are subject to change and may be withdrawn without public notice prior to the actual meeting.

The Township Committee typically meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Township Municipal Building located at 58 Meyersville Road. Residents are welcome to attend the meeting in person, or they can view the proceedings live on Comcast channel 29 and Verizon FiOS channel 26.

The Chatham Township Committee consists of Mayor Kevin Sullivan, Deputy Mayor Curt Ritter, Kathy Abbott, Bailey Brower, Jr. and Robert Gallop.
