Chatham Quarterback vs. Parsippany Hills? The Choice is A or B

CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham head coach Jason Izsa has narrowed his choice to starting quarterback for Saturday's Cougar Night game against Parsippany Hills to "Quarterback A or quarterback B."

"We're going to wait until (Friday) to name our starting quarterback," Izsa said. "We expected to have a clear-cut choice by Thursday, but that hasn't happened."

Senior Sean Landolfi started the opener last Thursday against Montville, an 8-3 Chatham loss. But sophomore Alex Sands alternated series with Landolfi the whole game. That won't be the case when Chatham (0-1) tries to break its 12-game losing streak against high-scoring Parsippany Hills (1-0) at Cougar Field.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense to alternate them again," Izsa said. "Quarterback A will get a chance to establish a tempo or rhythm in the game. If it's not working out, we'll go with quarterback B."

Chatham has yet to score a touchdown out of its new Delaware Wing T offense that was installed this year.

While Izsa is trying to solve his quarterback equation, Parsippany Hills definitely knows Brandon Katzenberger will be calling the signals. Katzenberger is a double threat, having run for three touchdowns and passed for two other TDs in his team's 42-0 victory over Morris Hills.

The return of a healthy Nick Hill, who was nursing a sore hamstring last week, removes freshman Tim Adams as the starting placekicker. Adams, TAP Chatham Athlete of the Week, was pressed into duty when Hill got hurt. Adams' 21-yard field goal were the only points produced for the Cougars in the loss to Montville.

Hill, a running back and defensive back, won't return to do the punting just yet. That duty will go to either Landolfi or Jack Duane.

INJURY UPDATE: Senior lineman Taylor Boehmer turned an ankle in practice this week and will be unavailable for Chatham ... wide receiver Brian Brady is out with a broken collarbone suffered against Montville.
