Chatham Emergency Squad Seeks New Members

Wednesday, February 26, 2014 • 10:00pm

The Chatham Emergency Squad will be holding an informational meeting on Sunday, March 2, for anyone interested in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Recently, the Chatham Emergency Squad recently took delivery of a new ambulance with the latest safety features for crew and patient and the best medical equipment.

“Our commitment of quality care to our patients begins with our members," Newly installed Squad President,
Christine Grobert said. "We provide our EMTs with the best possible tools and training to serve the Chatham community. The new ambulance is visible proof of that effort.”

“Putting a new ambulance into service is kind of an exciting time for the Squad” new member Ann Tufariello said.

Tufariello joined in 2013 and is “on duty” every Tuesday. As her children have grown and become increasingly independent, the demands of her schedule have relaxed. She saw joining the Squad as the perfect way to be engaged in her community in a new way.

“It has proven to be what I hoped," Tufariello said. "My crew made me feel useful right away and have given great support as I develop my skills. The Squad asked for a real commitment that I was happy to make. When I have a conflict with my scheduled shift, other members are great about filling in for me.”

President Grobert noted that the squad was able to have crews of EMTs ready to respond 24/7, but there were openings and they were actively seeking new members. The Squad will be having an Informational Meeting Sunday, March 2nd. Those who would like information on membership are invited to attend.

The Squad’s motto is “Neighbors helping Neighbors” and offers the opportunity to do just that. To be part of a proud organization go to www.chathamemergencysquad.org and click on Volunteer.
