CHATHAM, NJ- On Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15, the Chatham Chamber of Commerce welcomed Santa to town and he greeted children at Chatham Rotary Park.
The event has been held in the past at the Chatham Library, the gazebo in Reasoner Park or sometimes Santa just walked around town. Chamber of Commerce member Carolyn Cherry said they were hoping Santa at Rotary Park would be more visible to the community and attract residents to stop by.
She said the Chamber plans to have Santa in Chatham next year on Small Business Saturday, which is right after Thanksgiving.
“At the Chamber of Commerce we always try to do events that bring the people downtown,” Cherry said.
Tiffany Hansbrough was strolling through town when her 5-year-old son Max suddenly saw Santa and said they should go see him. Max was able to tell him what he wanted for Christmas and had a great time, she said.
Longhill resident Vikki Lesser and her 2-year-old son Cole hadn’t made it to the mall yet to see Santa, so she said Cole was really happy after seeing him. Cole was nearing nap time so seeing Santa was really made his day before he took his nap, Lesser said.
“He was so excited. It was perfect,” she said.
