CHATHAM, NJ - It wasn't pretty, but Chatham fought through a rough shooting night to defeat Madison, 58-39, on Monday in the final game of the Cougar Classic.

"Not a lot of energy," Chatham coach Todd Ervin said. "Our overall shooting has been horrible. We're certainly going to put the time in and work on it. We're not shooting the ball real well and it just kills everything else. It will come around."

Chatham did not make a single 3-point shot in the game. Luke Conrad led the Cougars with 22 points and Graham Delaney hit for 10.

Despite its spotty shooting, Chatham (3-2) closed out the first half by scoring the final 10 points and then netted the first nine points of the third quarter to build a 36-18 lead.

In the second quarter, Gavin Wallace had hit a 3-pointer that was sandwiched around two baskets by Darrell Germain to give Madison (0-5) an 18-17 edge. But Colin McKenna hit two straight baskets inside before Delaney scored a layup off a Bobby Raiola pass. Max Brown banked one in and then Conrad drove the lane for two points and a 27-18 lead at the break.
