CHATHAM, NJ - The TV comedy series "Seinfeld" was described as a "show about nothing." Chatham Borough Police Chief Phil Crosson is out to show that police work in town is not a joke.

"A lot of people come up to me and ask me what I do because they say that 'nothing happens' in Chatham," Crosson said. "I tell them it's because we're doing a good job."

Crosson will have more opportunities to show first-hand what the Chatham Police Department does since the Borough of Chatham Council passed a resolution on Monday, authoring the police to enact a Ride-Along Program.

"It's a good opportunity for people in the community to see what we do; that things actually do happen in Chatham," Crosson said. "It's also a way to introduce law enforcement to young people who might be interested. It's an opportunity to ride around and see the basics of what an officer sees. We've never had a program like this."
