CHATHAM, NJ - While Christmas, Hanukah and New Year's have passed, business owners in Chatham were in a festive mood Thursday night, Jan. 10, 2013, when they attended the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Happy Hour at Charlie Brown’s.

People drank, ate and schmoozed and some even won prizes.  Carolyn Cherry, Executive Director of the Chamber, said that in the past, the Chamber held a holiday dinner but that this year, they decided to hold a less formal event that would be more fun and easier for business owners to attend.

“It’s worked out well at Charlie Brown’s and they’re a member,” Cherry said. “Charlie Brown’s is definitely a chain that sees the merit in the chamber more than other chains do.”

Jacqueline Major, the director of operations at Right at Home, and her mother, Juanita, attended the event. It is a family-run business that has been in Chatham for a decade.  They place home health aides in people’s homes.  Jacqueline, who has been working there for a year, said she really enjoys helping people and being a member of the chamber is extremely beneficial.

Newcomer to the chamber is Berkeley Heights resident Jeffrey Burnett, who is opening a new frozen yogurt store on Main Street in February. Burnett said there will be a warm welcoming atmosphere, great food, a friendly staff and soup will be available in the winter.

It will be his first business venture, but his partner, Tony LaSalle, has previous experience owning businesses.  Burnett is excited for the opening and he hopes parents and children enjoy their frozen yogurt.

“It’s going be the coolest place to be,” he said.
