Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company Receives Grant from The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation

The Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company (www.cddc.info) recently received a $50,000 grant from The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation (www.grdodge.org) to support creation of new work, sustain repertory, expand touring and increase education programming in New Jersey and regionally.
The Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company was acknowledged by the Foundation’s President and CEO, Christopher Daggett, who expressed,” Through creativity and collaboration you have challenged old models, fostered new partnerships and reaffirmed core values to sustain programs and serve communities. The approval of this grant is a testament to the quality and impact of your work and we are grateful for all that you do to imagine and create a better New Jersey.”
The funding will allow CDDC to accomplish many goals including the completion of new works such as Keystone; expansion of its touring and educational programming across New Jersey to locales such as Centenary and Cumberland County Community College; strengthening of its existing programs and increased residencies, master classes to schools such as the Smith Elementary School in Tenafly and creative partnerships with choreographers such as Doug Elkins and at colleges, universities and community organizations; and the opportunity to provide company members with training, education and in-service sessions to enhance their skills as teaching artists
As CDDC heads towards its 30th anniversary in 2013, “we are especially thrilled that our work has been recognized by the Dodge Foundation for almost 20 years and is considered worthy of their support, ”comments Carolyn Dorfman, Founder and Artistic Director. “This grant will allow us to expand our reach and be able to provide important learning experiences within the classroom and the community by creating the opportunities for exposure to dance.”
