WESTFIELD, NJ — Friends, family and members of the community will go caroling on Sunday, Dec, 22, to raise funds for “Miracle Man” Chuck Harcourt and his family. Harcourt, who grew up in Westfield and played PAL football, earned his nickname after surviving the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001.

Seven years later, Harcourt’s life was saved again when he suffered a heart attack while on vacation with his family and an off-duty lifeguard performed CPR. It turned out that Harcourt suffers congenital heart disease. Recently, he was diagnosed with cancer. These medical issues have caused financial burden for his family. Called “Harcourt Angels,” the carolers will sing from 5 to 7 p.m. in Westfield neighborhoods including Frances Terrace, Harrison Avenue, Tudor Oval, Wyoming Street, Woodbrook Circle, Edgar Road and Carlton Road.

"Caroling has always been a part of my holiday celebrations and when I heard of Chuck's story, I felt that this was the perfect chance to get people together, celebrate this joyous season and help support this family,” said Maria Torchia LoGrippo, one of the organizers. “Isn't that what it is all about?”

"Christmas time is about family, love, giving and celebration,” said Mari Melao, Harcourt’s sister-in-law. “The Harcourt Angels event is a perfect way to spread Christmas cheer for the strongest guy I know. Westfield is the town that Chuck grew up in. When Maria and Ali [Costalos] approached me about Harcourt Angels’ I was blown away. The support of friends and family at this difficult time makes life a little sweeter. I know that my amazing sister Danielle is eternally grateful for the love and support this event brings. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Harcourt Angels. Hark the Harcourt Angels sing!"
