Careless Driving Arrest

On 11/1/12 at 6:20p.m., Newton Police were summoned to the area of Sparta Avenue to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed that a 2000 Pontiac Buick Century operated by Olive Campbell, age 52 of Union Place, Newton had struck two vehicles while turning right from Diller Avenue onto Sparta Avenue before fleeing the scene. Campbell's vehicle was followed by an off-duty Newton Police Officer until it could be stopped on Foster Street by responding patrols.
Subsequently, the driver of the vehicle, Olive Campbell, age 52, of Union Place, Newton was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.
