Car Stolen in South Orange, Recovered in Paterson

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – A car service driver told police two men stole his car when he left the vehicle running to pick up a client on Spier Drive at 5 a.m. on July 10.
The 2013 Cadillac was recovered in Paterson a short time later. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
In other police news:
Police arrested Soloman Whager, 26, of Newark, at 10:20 p.m. on July 6 after receiving a call that a male was sleeping behind the wheel of his car in a traffic lane on Centre Street. He was charged with DWI.
A Charlton Avenue resident told police that sometime between July 2 and July 8 someone had smashed the driver’s side window or her 2008 Toyota, which was parked in her driveway.
- An elderly woman reported that a man posing as a meter reader came to her door around 9:40 a.m. on July 1. The black male, approximately 5-foot 9 and around 50 years old, offered her money for her inconvenience in allowing him to check her water meter. A few days later she discovered cash missing from her bedroom.
