SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Residents in Scotch Plains, Fanwood and Westfield lost power for about an hour the evening of Dec. 6 when a driver hit a pole, according to a representative from PSE&G.  Power was restored by 7:57 p.m., she said.

Due to systems maintenance this weekend, PSE&G customers were not able to report outages via MyAccount, view its outage maps or get outage-related email or text message update. These services will be restored Sunday, Dec. 8, at about 5 p.m., according to the company.

In the meantime, to report a power outage, gas leak or emergency customers should call PSE&G at 800-436-7734.

Earlier in the evening, Cranford police sent out a Nixle alert about an unrelated power outage on the south side of that town due to transformer failure.
