Calling All Canines! The Fifth Annual “October Tails” To Be Held 10/20/13

WEST ORANGE, NJ -For the fifth consecutive year “Oliver,” an English Cocker Spaniel, and “Lucy,” a Border Terrier, have been named honorary Co-chairs of the event planning committee for “October Tails,” Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center’s annual Halloween-themed event for dogs and their owners. The event, sponsored by Animal Emergency and Referral Associates (AERA) of Fairfield and the Animal Eye Center (AEC) of Little Falls, will be held on Sunday, October 20, from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. in Verona Park (rain date: 10/27). Special guest emcee Maria Milito of Q104.3 FM will be in attendance. Proceeds will fund Paws for Patients, a canine therapy program offered free of charge to patients served by Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Centers.
The centerpiece of “October Tails” is a Halloween costume contest for dogs, with prizes in the following categories: Most Original, Funniest, Most Heartwarming and Best in Show. The event also features children’s activities and a poster contest, games, agility demonstrations, obedience games and vendors. On-site pet therapy evaluators are available for dog owners interested in temperament testing.
Admission to October Tails is $20 per family, but is free to all fundraising participants who raise a minimum of $25.
