SUMMIT, NJ - The Broad Street garage will be closed today through Sunday to allow for waterproofing.

According to an announcement from Rita McNany, parking services manager, the garage is in the final stages of its maintenance project. Waterproofing still needs to be done and previous weekends have been too rainy for the material to be applied.

The waterproofing needs three full days to dry, McNany said, and the city wants to get the project completed before the end of the summer.

"We appreciate everyone's cooperation during the construction," she said. "The garage will be reopened as soon as possible, no later than 4 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20."

Parkers may park in the Broad Street East, Elm Street, Sampson, or Chestnut lots. Parking Services Staff will be on-site at the garage and other parking lots to guide parkers to available parking. For more information, contact 908-522-5100 or parking@cityofsummit.org.

In other parking news, McNany said on Sunday, the Farmers' Market will be moving back into the parking lot on DeForest Avenue. She said that while all the construction within the lot is not finished, the lot is being reopened for the Farmers' Market.
