On October 20, 2012 the Boonton Township PBA Local 392 will be hosting the Rally Round the Valley Duathalon and 5K Run. The duathalon will begin at 8:30am and the 5K Run at 10:30am. The duathalon will be a USAT Sanctioned event and will consist of a 2 mile run, 12 mile bike and another 2 mile run around the scenic Rockaway Valley. The bike route will go through Boonton Township, Mountain Lakes and Denville before ending back at the RVA Fields. The 5K Run will be on the historic Rockaway Valley Airdrome Fields, which is the site of the first instrument landing of General Doolittle. The race is presented by Atlantic Health Systems. Once the races are completed the PBA will also be hosting an Oktoberfest and Family fun day at the RVA Fields from 12 noon until 6pm, which will consist of a German band, bouncy rides, hay rides, carnival games, face painting, sand art, a dunk the cop dunk tank and a make your own candy or caramel apples stand, to name a few. There will be plenty of food, German and domestic beers, burgers, bratwurst, Kruat dogs, German soup, pretzels and other sweets and treats. So bring out the entire family for a day of fun and entertainment.

All proceeds will go towards operating costs, donations and supporting the members of the PBA. The Boonton Township PBA Local 392 donates to almost every sport and recreation group in Boonton Township as well as hosting or assisting in various other events within the township. PBA Local 392 also sponsors the Donnie Farrell Memorial Scholarship which is granted to a graduating senior from Mountain Lakes High School and more recently presented a defibrillator to the Township of Boonton for the RVA Fields.
