Missed a new movie you wanted to see in the theaters and don’t want to pay for the DVD? Come to “Monday Night Movies” at the library. It’s all the fun of a movie theater but none of the cost. We are showing brand new releases every Monday night at 6:30pm. We will be providing popcorn for all who attend. The movie this week stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, reteaming for the first time since their big hit movie about wedding crashers. This time they star as two guys who are competing for jobs at a very well known company that is famous for its search engine. For a list of upcoming movies, stop by the library and pick up a schedule.
The Library has started 3 book clubs for adults who are interested in reading and discussing books. We have a Tuesday afternoon group that meets at 4pm. The next meeting is going to be on November 19th, where they will be discussing The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. There is also Thursday evening book club. The next meeting of this group is on November 21th at 7pm where the group will be discussing Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls. Our brand new book club for the fall is our Mystery Book Club. The next meeting of the South Plainfield Mystery Book Club will be on Wednesday November 20th at 4pm. The book that they will be discussing is And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander. The Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening book clubs have their books selected through 2013 and into 2014. Stop by and pick up a schedule of the books being discussed. If you are interested in attending any of these book clubs and need a copy of the book that is being discussed stop by the library.
Do you want a fun and easy holiday arrangement that will also make your house smell nice? Come to the library and learn how to make a beautiful arrangement using cinnamon sticks. Nancy Leary, who has also done a silk scarf program as well as a creative gift wrapping program for us is back to teach how to create gorgeous arrangements using cinnamon sticks and other materials. This program will be held on Thursday November 14th at 6:30pm. Space is limited to 20 people and registration is required. There is $7 materials fee. If you would like to sign up or have any questions, call or come by the library.
If you can’t get to the library because you are pregnant, don’t drive or are ill, and still would like to be able to get library materials, then sign up for our homebound delivery service. You call us to sign up and tell us what you would like to read and we will match you with a volunteer. We will pick out books for you, check them out and then deliver them to your door. When you are done the volunteer will pick them up and bring them back to the library along with any requests for other books. If you have any questions about this service or want to sign up, please give us a call at 908-754-7885.
We will be following our regular schedule for the children’s programs. The Storytime program for 2s & 3s is held Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30. Storytime for ages 3 and up is held Tuesday mornings at 10:30, Wednesday night at 6:30, and Thursday afternoon at 1:15. The Babytime program for ages up to 2 years is held Friday morning at 10:30. These programs do not require registration. Please try to get to the Storytime programs on time because it can get very disruptive for Miss Linda and Miss Mija and the children if people come in the middle of the program.
We are open 7 days a week except on holidays. Our hours are as follows: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we are open 10-9, Tuesdays and Fridays we are open 10-6, Saturdays 9-5 and Sundays 1:30-5
