SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Board of Education awarded tenure to Heather Hearne, a special education teacher at Kennedy School, and Dorothea Bohn, a secretary at the Middle School, at last week's monthly meeting.
According to Kennedy School Principal Lisa Parker, Hearne teaches a self-contained special education class and motivates her students to learn things they never would have otherwise. "Her students can be heard singing, laughing, and even spelling," Parker told those attending the meeting.
Middle School Principal Kevin Hajduk told the audience that Bohn is "passionate" in her role as secretary and commended her for her skills in keeping the school running efficiently.
According to Board of Education President Sharon Miller, achieving tenure is a "milestone" in a teacher's career, and she told the two recipients that they should be proud of their achievements.
