Big Weekend Ahead For RHS Sports

RANDOLPH, NJ - Friday, Oct. 25 is the annual Homecoming Football game for Randolph, with the Rams battling Roxbury in a “Friday Night Lights” game at 7 p.m.
The rivalry between these two teams has waged for more than 30 years, and is considered by many to be one of the biggest and best in Northern New Jersey high school football.
Prior to the start of the game, a ceremony will be held honoring the senior class, recognizing those who are members of cheerleading, band, and color guard. Halftime will include the longtime high school tradition of crowning the homecoming king and queen.
The school named this past week “Spirit Week,” and has been holding activities and events all week long to celebrate the arrival of Homecoming Weekend. The halls have been decorated with signs, banners, streamers and other items to get everyone in the spirit for a festive weekend.
A special presentation will take place at the game involving the Randolph Football Alumni Association. The 30th anniversary of the 1983 state championship football team will be celebrated. Members of that team will be in attendance and will be honored with a tribute to their success. Gloria Bauer will be announced with this team as well. Mrs. Bauer is the widow of legendary coach John Bauer Sr., the man for whom Randolph's stadium is named.
In two other big games this weekend, the boys and girls varsity soccer teams play in the Morris County Tournament finals on Saturday. The boys play Delbarton at 5:30 p.m. at Roxbury High School. The girls play after them, also at Roxbury High, and will face West Morris in their finals game at 7:30 p.m.
