BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Community Pool swim team ended their season on Thursday night with a tough loss to Mountainside, with a final score of 246-190.

Even though the final meet did not end in their favor, Head Coach Brittany Guinee had nothing but positive things to say about the teams’ 5-3 record on the season.

“We ended with a good record, and overall had a really fun season.” Guinee said after the meet. “And it’s always so enjoyable [for the coaches] to see the kids having fun all season long.”

The meet provided a unique matchup between peers as it pitted Gov. Livingston swimmers, who typically swim together, against each other. One such matchup was in the 50-meter breaststroke, between Amanda Matrone and Nicole Attanasio, who swam together at GL for four years.

Before the race, Amanda said, “Nicole and I have a friendly competition going. We swam against each other in the last meet [against Mountainside], and I won, so tonight she’s out for revenge.”

Nicole ultimately won the race, and afterwards jokingly said, “Now we can be at peace with each other.”

After the meet concluded, the team held the Annual Parent Relays, in which parents of swimmers race against each other. The race is a fun way for parents to get involved and have some fun of their own.

Next up for the swim team is the first annual “Battle of the Pools”, which will be a friendly meet against the Berkeley Swim Club and take place on Tuesday, July 29. This year, the meet will take place at the BHCP. For more information, please visit www.bhcpool.com/swimteam.
