Berkeley Heights Fire Dept. Determines Small Section of Columbia Middle School Roof Unsafe

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights Fire Department's Rescue 1, Tower 1 and Engine 4 responded to Columbia Middle School to investigate a report of an impending roof collapse.
Berkeley Heights Firefighters were assisted by two captains from the Elizabeth Fire Department who are experts on building collapse to determine if the failing section could be shored. Firefighters secured power to the effected section.
New Providence and Stirling fire departments covered the township in the event of another emergency.
The small section of the school was determined to be unsafe and was secured.
