Be Craftful Marks First Anniversary

Q&A with owner Amy Boroff

FANWOOD, NJ -- Be Craftful is a place that parents have discovered as a great venue to celebrate their children’s birthdays.  On Saturday, June 21, 2014, the store celebrates its own first birthday.  TAP-SPF’s own Elena Bavandpoori sat down with Amy Boroff to talk about Be Craftful’s milestone this weekend.

Q: What is Be Craftful?

A: It is a toy store and indoor creative play space where children and their families can create special Arts & Crafts.

Q: What was the idea behind a toy and craft store?

A: My background is in education. So, my husband and I started thinking about a local place where we could take our daughter and other kids to be creative.

Q: What do you offer in general?

A: We have Crafts-To-Go which are prepackaged DIY (Do it yourself) projects.

You can register for birthday parties and set up a wish list for presents you would like to receive.

There is walk-in crafting for children between 4 and 10 but also toddler exploration classes and Ladies Nights where we offer different personalized items to craft with. (On our loyalty punch card every 6th sitting is for free.)

During the summer we have special summer workshops, too. You can tie dye a shirt for only 10 $ if you bring your own. Check out our online shop for wrapped presents and other great toys. http://shop.becraftful.com/

Q: What plans do you have to celebrate Be Craftful's first anniversary?

A: On Saturday, June 21st, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. we will offer free face painting, free glitter tattoos and free crafts. Our big merchandise, such as bookshelves, bicycles and tables, will be 60% off.  We also have food and cake.

Q: What was the past year been like and what are your goals for the future?

A Long-Term Goal is to expand our business.  We feel very fortunate to have the mayor's and the community's support who give us suggestions and recommendations to improve.

I found two mentors that help me with finances and technology since my husband left the business.

Much of our business is based on word-of mouth. So please tell your friends and visit us to celebrate our first anniversary with us on Saturday, June 21st.
