Back to School!

Being back at school is so much fun!  I love spending time with everyone at ECLC of New Jersey. In the morning, the teachers and therapists play fetch with me in the hallway. I know where all the fun balls are in the Lower School classrooms and try to “steal” them.  When the students see me they always say, “Hi Gino, I love you.”

It has been a busy month already! We had a special assembly for Sept. 11.  There was a slideshow with the students who will graduate this year raising the American Flag with the help of our custodians. The Boy Scouts led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic songs were sung, and a poem (written by a graduate) was read.

I also have been on class trips to the Chatham Library and Dunkin' Donuts. On Friday,  I am going to CVS and Noah’s Bagels. I love to visit the classrooms. I help out with Circle Time, Social Skills, Reading and exercise. I love being back at school!

My name is Gino. I am a specially trained assistance dog from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). CCI is a national, non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs, like me, to increase independence and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities. Now, I am a Facility Dog at ECLC of New Jersey’s school in Chatham, N.J., for children with special needs.
