SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Garry Pastore, founder of Scotch Plains-based Willowcreek Entertainment, will screen his feature length docu-dramedy, DESTRESSED during the Garden State Film Festival at the Trump Taj Mahal’s Xanadu Theater in Atlantic City on Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m.

Using documentary storytelling, along with touching dramatic scenes and laugh-out-loud comedy, DESTRESSED follows one man's insane search for sanity in an insane world. Garry Pastore, who also stars in the film, is left with post-traumatic stress after the 9/11 terror attacks. The increasing stresses in his life leave him hospitalized and dealing with major health and psychological traumas. He puts his problems into perspective and travels across the country in search of enlightenment and encounters courageous people along the way.  Eventually he realizes that helping others is the true key to unlocking the secrets of stress management.

Pastore, the director and producer of the film, earned a total of eight best director, best producer and best film awards for his debut film, Waiting For… Budd, in 2009.  He has since been nominated for a 2012 SAG Award for his contributions to The Dark Knight Rises and was the recipient of the ensemble Emmy Award for his work on the hit show 30 Rock in 2006.  His acting credits include the TV series Blue Bloods, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and The Sopranos, as well as films including The Wolf of Wall Street, Donnie Brasco, Carlito's Way, and Goodfellas.

The film maker, the middle child in a family of six, was born in New York City in the early 1960s.  Pastore has appeared as an actor in over 50 TV and feature films.  He has written 10 screenplays for film and TV that he is now developing with his company Willowcreek Entertainment and has also published a book entitled, You're Not in Mom's Kitchen Anymore.  Garry Pastore lives in central New Jersey with his wife, Melody, and their four children.
