Thursday, June 14, 2012 • 8:18pm
Don’t miss the Arts Council of the Morris Area’s Giralda Music and Arts Festival on Sunday, June 24, 2012. Thanks to this year’s rainsite - at the Mennen Sports Arena, 161 East Hanover Ave., Morristown – weather won’t matter at all! The entire event – from the concert by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to the hands-on arts activities, art show & sale and even picnics (!) - can move indoors at this spacious Morris County facility, in the event of inclement weather.
This year’s offerings are varied and full of fun. Under the baton of Emil de Cou, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will feature soprano Channing Connell, mezzo-soprano Melissa Kornacki and baritone Jeremy Moore from Opera New Jersey in the following program:
TCHAIKOVSKY Polonaise from Eugene Onegin
STRAUSS Voices of Spring
SULLIVAN H.M.S. Pinafore
Overture
“I’m called Little Buttercup”
“Sorry her lot”
“Fair moon to thee I sing”
“Never mind the why and wherefore”
NICOLAI Merry Wives of Windsor Overture
~Intermission~
ANDERSON Goldilocks Overture
RODGERS “The Carousel Waltz”

Additionally, this year’s festival includes Children’s art activities (origami and watercolor painting), and an Art Show and Sale – not to mention desserts and snacks available for purchase from The Artist Baker and a vintage ice cream truck.
Want to win concert or theatre tickets, free admission to museums and historic sites, a free dinner or lunch, or some of the other fabulous picnic prizes? Then, join the Giralda tradition of bringing an inventive picnic to Giralda where roving picnic judges pick the winners of the generous prizes. And who wouldn’t love to walk away with an extra $1,000+ in their pocket? The famed 50/50 raffle, whose tickets go for a mere $1, helps to support the Arts Council’s scholarship fund while netting some lucky person a big cash prize! Giralda is a great event to celebrate with that special someone, friends, family, neighbors, club members or college chums -- enjoy a wonderful event, glorious music, picnic fun and help to support the important work of the Arts Council of the Morris Area, an award-winning nonprofit which for 39 years, has been bringing the arts to the center of community life.
