Are You Financially Safe? SAGE to Host October 3 Program
Thursday, September 12, 2013 • 12:17pm
On Thursday, October 3 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, SAGE Eldercare will host a program entitled, “Keeping Yourself Financially Safe” at 290 Broad Street in Summit.
Bill Logue from the American Education Foundation will be on hand for an important discussion designed to provide fundamental tools for managing personal finances. Attendees will learn how to protect themselves from scams, financial predators, and identity theft.
“We are hoping to shed some light on how both older adults and their caregivers can learn the signs of scams and illegitimate programs,” stated Mr. Logue.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, older Americans are especially vulnerable to online identity theft, partly because they grew up in an era before there were personal computers or cybercrime. Older adults are often targeted because they have substantial assets and are usually less savvy about the dangers of using the internet and phishing scams. This program will help identify those dangers and how to avoid being a target, regardless of your age.
The October 3 program is free and open to the public. To register, please call 908.598.5548 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
