SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Preservation architect Barton Ross will present the results of his survey, "Preservation Plan Shady Rest Golf and Country Club," to the Scotch Plains Township Council at a special meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.

Ross was hired last year to examine the clubhouse at what is now called Scotch Hills Country Club in order to determine the best option for preserving the building.  He is the principal of TBR Architects & Planners LLC, a full-service architecture and planning firm that provides professional architecture and historic preservation services. Ross earned Masters Degrees in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania and in Construction Administration from Columbia. His areas of specialization are in architecture, urban planning, and construction.

Scotch Hills Country Club is the site of what was long known as Shady Rest Golf and Country Club, where John Shippen, America's first professional golfer, worked for many years. This nine-hole course facility is located at 820 Jerusalem Road in Scotch Plains.
