The West Orange Recreation Department will be conducting their 18^th Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 2nd. (rain date – June 9^th)  The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at Crystal Lake.  The lake is stocked with a variety of fish including largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegills and sunfish.  Fishing supplies including bait will be available for purchase.  A snack bar will be in operation.  In addition to catch and release fishing, a casting contest will also be held.  Each child in attendance will receive a souvenir and also have a chance to win a variety of door prizes.  Assisting the Rec Dept. will be the New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife and representatives from the Police Department’s “Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs” Program.  As per state guidelines, all anglers over the age of fourteen (14) must have a valid fishing license.  Parking for Crystal Lake can be accessed through Boland Drive off of Prospect Street.  For more info call 973-325-4150.  In case of inclement weather call the Weather Hotline at 973-243-1115.
