Almost Everything You Want to Know About Crossword Puzzles: Tricks of the Trade at the Fanwood Memorial Library on April 28

FANWOOD, NJ – If you are one of those people who tries mightily but can’t seem to finish the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, the Fanwood Memorial Library might be able to help.
Bring your pencils -- or pens if you dare -- on Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m., when the library welcomes noted crossword constructor Deb Amlen, who will share the secrets of constructing a crossword puzzle and tips for solving them.
Ever since her parents called her “crazy, but in a good way,” Amlen has spent the majority of her spare time figuring out how to get paid for it, “simply because it’s just so much better than holding a real job.” She entertains and challenges crossword lovers from all over the world in her daily “Wordplay” blog, and her work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and other venues. (Now she can tell her parents that she is finally gainfully employed.)
The New Jersey native is also a senior columnist with David Pogue’s new Yahoo Tech magazine, where her “Buzzology” humor column can be read weekly. She was the creator of the Patch humor column “Next Exit.” Her book, It’s Not PMS, It’s You, can be found where all questionable literature is sold.
ALMOST EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT CROSSWORD PUZZLES: The Tricks of the Trade is a free event sponsored by the Friends of the Fanwood Library.
